UNFIXED LANDSCAPES: Wounded Systems

Taiwan, shaped by migrations and colonization, plays a key role in the global digital economy. I explore these tensions at an intimate scale through landscape, water, and territory adaptation.
Working from a former sugar factory, now transformed into a post-industrial site, I engage a landscape marked by overlapping ecological and historical layers, from irrigation channels to coastal wetlands.
Using cameraless processes, I work with site-specific materials—wild flora, sugarcane, roots—and wash the images with water from salt flats or irrigation systems, often contaminated. The images remain unstable as the environment continues to act on them. I transfer textures through frottage, work with charcoal from incense kilns, weave roots as a ritual gesture, treating material as an active collaborator.
Aerial views of roots, water systems, and infrastructures recall the “die shots” of microchips, revealing shared structures of circuits and flows.
Here I see an intersection of nature, industry, and technology: systems sharing a common logic. A world in constant transformation—unstable and wounded, yet deeply connected.
